Join Us for a Reading and Discussion From Author of “When Truth Lies: A Journey with Schizophrenia”, Terry Garahan

International Conference on Peer Run Organizations to be Held in June 2013

Meeting with staff from Jansen Pharmaceuticals, a Division of Johnson and Johnson, as well as mental health professionals from GGze Breda, and the Rokus Loopik Organization, Dr. Richard Pulice, Professor and Chair of the Social Work Department and Director of the Institute for Community Research and Training at the College of Saint Rose began the planning of an International Conference on Peer Run Organizations to be held in June 2013. This exciting event will be held in Utrecht, The Netherlands and include mental health peers from across the US and Europe. A final date will announced in late August 2012.

Dr. Richard Pulice, Professor and Chair of the Social Work Department and Director of the Institute for Community Research and Training at the College of Saint Rose was in the Netherlands last week and presenting the findings of an ICRT project that examined the quality of life and goals of consumers of mental health services at DeBoei a shared professional and peer run organization in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Commenting on the findings of the report Dr. Pulice stated “DeBoei is an excellent example of a collaboration between peers and professionals, ensuring access to high quality and meaningful programs to persons recovering from a mental illness”.

ICRT has ongoing projects related to mental health care in the United States and in Europe. Dr. Pulice has worked for over 20 years in Eastern and Western Europe providing training and consultation on program development.
